POSITION OVERVIEW
To ensure consistent product quality across the assembly lines of Indoor Units (IDU) and Outdoor Units (ODU) in room air conditioner manufacturing by implementing robust in-line quality systems, driving defect prevention, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
ROLE
Key Responsibilities
In-Line Quality Monitoring
- Conduct in-process quality checks at critical stages of IDU and ODU assembly.
- Monitor parameters such as torque settings, leak tests, electrical safety, and cosmetic finish.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and control plans.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain inspection records, defect logs, and line audit reports.
- Prepare daily quality dashboards and share insights with production and quality teams.
- Support internal and external audits with relevant documentation.
Defect Analysis & CAPA
- Investigate recurring defects and customer complaints related to line assembly.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Use tools like 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and Pareto Analysis for problem-solving. Process & Product Improvement
- Collaborate with production and design teams to improve process capability and reduce in-line rejections.
- Drive initiatives for first-pass yield improvement and rework reduction.
- Support trials and validations of new models or process changes.
Training & Awareness
- Train line operators and supervisors on quality standards, defect identification, and handling procedures.
- Promote quality culture through visual aids, quality alerts, and regular feedback sessions.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols during inspections and testing.
- Monitor ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) controls and electrical safety checks.
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES
- Familiarity with IDU/ODU assembly processes and functional testing
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing principles
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
- Quality tools, defect analysis, documentation, ERP systems, MS Excel
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage shop-floor quality teams
