About the role
Role summaryThe opening portfolio covers rheology modifiers, sunscreen/UV filter agents and beauty active ingredients, made in India for global formulators and brand owners. You will be commercial leader of this vertical. You will build the customer base from zero, starting in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, then expand into the USA and Europe. You will own revenue, shape the product portfolio with R&D and sourcing, and build the go-to-market model and team as the business scales.
Key responsibilitiesMarkets open in two waves: emerging markets first for faster qualification cycles, regulated markets second once the portfolio has dossiers and references.
1. Market development and revenue
- Build and execute the market entry plan for each Wave 1 region: target segments, priority accounts, pricing and channel model.
- Own the vertical's revenue, gross margin and collections targets; maintain a clean, forecastable pipeline in the CRM.
- Prepare the Wave 2 entry for USA and Europe: regulatory readiness, distributor shortlists and reference customers from Wave 1.
- Appoint and manage specialist personal-care distributors where direct selling is not efficient (typical in Africa and LATAM).
- Set distributor targets, margins, stocking and technical-support responsibilities; review performance quarterly.
- Engage formulators and R&D heads on application performance: viscosity and texture (rheology modifiers), SPF/UVA protection and photostability (UV filters), and efficacy claims (actives).
- Coordinate samples, starter formulations, technical data sheets and lab trials with Scimplify R&D.
- Handle customer documentation: COA, SDS, TDS, INCI names, allergen and CMR statements, halal/vegan and natural-origin (ISO 16128) declarations.
- Feed market demand into the portfolio roadmap: which molecules and grades to add, benchmark products to match, price points to hit.
- Work with R&D, procurement and manufacturing on new product introduction, cost of goods and capacity.
- Track competitor launches, pricing and regulatory shifts across target regions.
- Represent Scimplify at in-cosmetics Global, in-cosmetics Latin America, Beautyworld Middle East and regional formulator events.
- Brief marketing on product literature, application notes, webinars and digital campaigns aimed at formulators.
- 10–15 years in B2B sales or business development of specialty ingredients, with at least 6 years in personal care and cosmetic ingredients.
- Proven export selling into at least two of: Middle East, Africa, Latin America. Exposure to USA or Europe is a strong plus.
- Hands-on selling of at least one of: rheology modifiers, UV filters, or cosmetic actives — with a working understanding of the other two.
- Track record of opening new accounts and markets, not only managing existing ones.
- Experience appointing and managing distributors across borders.
- Comfort with formulation conversations and regulatory documentation (INCI, CosIng, REACH, FDA OTC, ANVISA).
- Bachelor's or Master's in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering or Pharmacy.
- MBA in Marketing or International Business is preferred, not required.
- Entrepreneurial ownership: comfortable building from zero with limited structure.
- Consultative, technical selling to formulators and R&D teams; commercial negotiation with procurement.
- Data-led pipeline management and forecasting; CRM discipline.
- Cross-functional influence with R&D, manufacturing, supply chain and finance.
- Fluent English; Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic or French is a strong advantage.
- Willing to travel 40–50% internationally.
