Business Intelligence Architect

The BI Architect will be responsible for designing, architecting, and overseeing enterprise BI solutions that enable actionable insights, data-driven decision-making, and scalable analytics platforms. The role demands strong expertise in BI platforms, data modelling, data integration, and performance optimisation along with the ability to lead design discussions and collaborate with business and IT stakeholders.

The core responsibilities for the job include the following:

Architecture and Solution Design:

• Define end-to-end BI architecture, standards, and best practices.
• Design enterprise BI/analytics platforms, semantic models, and reporting frameworks.
• Architect scalable solutions across data warehouses, data lakes, and semantic layers.
• Ensure architecture alignment with enterprise roadmap and cloud strategy.
• Evaluate tools, define technology stack, and govern design patterns.

Data Modelling and Engineering:

• Lead dimensional modelling, star/snowflake schemas, and semantic model design.
• Define data ingestion, transformation, and aggregation strategies.
• Optimise data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Establish metadata management and data lineage standards.

Platform and Tool Expertise:

• Architect and implement BI platforms (Power BI / Tableau / Qlik / Looker).
• Establish governance models, workspace strategies, access control, and security frameworks.
• Define self-service BI strategy and enablement.

Performance, Quality and Governance:

• Ensure high availability, performance optimisation, and query tuning.
• Define security, access control, row-level and object-level security.
• Govern solution quality through standards and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.

Stakeholder and Leadership:

• Work with business stakeholders to translate analytical needs into systems.
• Collaborate with data engineering, cloud, and application teams.
• Lead BI technical teams, review designs, and mentor developers.
• Participate in estimation, planning, and roadmap development.

Requirements:

• 10+ years in data/analytics with 5+ years in BI architecture.
• Strong experience with o Power BI / Tableau / Qlik / Looker o Enterprise Data Warehousing o Semantic Models / Tabular Models.
• Expertise in dimensional modelling, Kimball/Inmon methodologies, data and integration.
• SQL expertise.
• Experience with ETL / ELT tools (ADF, SSIS, Informatica, Talend, etc. ).
• Knowledge of Cloud Data Platforms: Azure Synapse / Fabric, AWS Redshift, and GCP BigQuery.
• Experience with data lake and lakehouse concepts, platforms and governance.
• Experience in BI performance tuning, security implementation, data governance alignment, and dashboard and reporting standards.

Nice to Have:

• Cloud certifications (Azure / AWS / GCP).
• Experience with advanced analytics enablement.
• Experience in enterprise-scale global environments.
• Experience with GenAI-driven analytics insights (optional).

Technical Skills:

• BI Platforms: Power BI / Tableau / Qlik / Looker.

• Modelling: Star/snowflake, semantic models, and tabular.
