About the role
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards
- Assist senior chefs and kitchen staff in all food preparation and cooking operations
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper sanitation of assigned workstation and equipment
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health protocols to ensure compliance with hotel standards
- Support mise en place activities and ensure all ingredients are properly prepared before service periods
- Assist with food plating, garnishing, and presentation under the guidance of senior culinary staff
- Rotate through different kitchen stations to develop comprehensive culinary skills and knowledge
- Monitor food quality, temperature, and consistency, reporting any issues to supervisors immediately
- Maintain accurate inventory of assigned station supplies and communicate restocking needs
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth and efficient service operations
- Respond promptly to feedback and coaching from senior chefs to improve culinary techniques
- Support special events, banquets, and service requirements as assigned by kitchen management
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen or culinary environment
- Certification in Food Safety and Hygiene (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire)
- Proficiency in basic knife skills and food preparation techniques
- Strong understanding of food safety protocols and sanitation standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 kg regularly
