Datastage developer - Oracle

You will join our data engineering/BI team and be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL/data-integration solutions using IBM InfoSphere DataStage (commonly referred to as DataStage), working with Oracle databases, Unix/Linux scripting and large-scale data warehouses. You will collaborate with business analysts, data architects, DBAs, and other developers to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of data pipelines.

• Design, develop and implement ETL jobs and sequences in DataStage to extract data from diverse sources, transform it and load into target systems (Oracle, data warehouse). +2Himalayas+2
• Write SQL/PL-SQL for data extraction, transformation and validation in Oracle databases. Hire IT People+1
• Develop Unix/Linux shell scripts to automate job scheduling, file handling, logging, alerting. +1
• Perform data modelling and collaborate on design of data warehouse constructs (star/snowflake schemas, fact & dimension tables) to support BI and analytics. Hire IT People+1
• Troubleshoot and optimise existing ETL workflows — monitor DataStage jobs, identify performance bottlenecks, optimise SQL, tuning DataStage stages. Velvet Jobs+1
• Maintain documentation: source-to-target mappings, technical design specs, runbooks, job sequence flows, error handling. Himalayas

• Liaise with business stakeholders, data architects, QA and other teams to ensure data quality, correct transformations, and timely delivery.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).

• Proven experience with Oracle database: strong SQL, PL/SQL (procedures, functions, packages), performance tuning. BTG

• Good understanding of data warehousing concepts and methodologies (ETL, staging, dimensional modelling, fact/dimension tables). +1

• Exposure to migrating ETL or data warehousing workloads to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or using big-data technologies (Hadoop/Spark) is a plus.
• Experience working with large datasets, high data volumes, performance-tuning of ETL jobs and Oracle queries.
• Knowledge of data quality tools or metadata frameworks.
• Domain experience (e.g., finance, insurance, retail) is advantageous.
• Experience mentoring or guiding junior developers.
