About the role
What awaits you/ Job Profile At BMWTechWorks India, you will be part of the innovative Cluster Digital Product Engineering, driving the development of vital components for BMW’s next-generation electric vehicles. Mechanical Architecture & Packaging: Lead the physical integration and structural design of the CCU enclosure, balancing electrical isolation, high voltage distribution, component clearances, and compact packaging. ??e high-power fast charging. Component Modelling: Design complex mechanical parts using 3D CAD platforms (e.g., Catia, Siemens NX, Creo) across diverse manufacturing techniques: aluminum die-castings, sheet metal housings, injection-molded plastics, busbars, and busbar routing. High Voltage Compliance: Ensure all physical designs strictly comply with global HV safety regulations, automotive safety limits (creepage and clearance distances), and environmental ingress protection standards Design for Mfg.: Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) to cut manufacturing costs, simplify assembly steps, and optimize supplier fabrication capabilities. BOM & Release Management:Develop detailed engineering drawing packages using GD&T and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) architectures inside Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. Release of Parts. ?Project Lead including NAEL Release and Release Management incl. Variant Handling. Geometrical Integration of Combined Charging Units incl. Mechanical Design of related Fixing Plates. Evaluation of mechanical design changes in existing CCU Designs (PCN) We are responsible for the Technical and administrative management of the parts: Technical management includes development and designing from sketch to series part including testing and validation Administrative management includes release process, supplier management and internal BMW system service. Must have technical skill Proficient in CAD, especially CATIA V5/3D, for 2D and 3D construction for Combined Charging Units and its parts. Experience conducting DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) alongside electrical hardware teams. Experience with Designing of DC-DC Converter housing, including the components. Familiarity with FMK (Functional Tolerance Chain Analysis) to ensure component precision and function. Packaging studies and clearance requirements with surrounding parts. DFMEA knowledge. Mounting Proposals and Assembly studies.Deep understanding of high-voltage components (connectors, busbars, wiring harnesses) and automotive structural/material behaviors. Good to have technical skills Previous experience in automotive HV Combined Charging Units systems. Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality assurance in automotive component production (Plastic Moulding, Hoses and Metal forming) Ability to identify cost-saving potentials without compromising safety and quality.
