About the role
We are looking for a Python Platform Development Engineer with 5+ years of experience in backend application development, API development and cloud-native engineering. The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing scalable Python services, APIs, automation utilities and platform components. The role also involves working with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms and AI-enabled development solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Python and FastAPI, along with practical experience in REST APIs, Git, CI/CD, Docker and AWS/Azure. Exposure to Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, AI coding assistants or agentic frameworks would be an advantage. Key Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications and platform services using Python. Build RESTful APIs and microservices using FastAPI or equivalent Python frameworks. Develop reusable platform components, automation scripts and engineering utilities. Integrate applications with external APIs, databases and enterprise services. Write clean, modular, testable and maintainable Python code following engineering best practices. Develop automated unit and integration tests using Pytest or equivalent frameworks. Build and support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD or similar tools. Containerize applications using Docker and support deployment into Kubernetes or managed cloud environments. Develop and deploy applications on AWS and/or Azure. Support Infrastructure as Code and deployment automation using Terraform or similar tooling. Implement application security practices including authentication, authorization, secrets management and vulnerability scanning. Implement application logging, monitoring and observability. Troubleshoot application, API and deployment issues across development and production environments. Collaborate with platform, DevOps, security, QA and engineering teams. Contribute to technical documentation, code reviews and engineering standards. Support implementation of GenAI/LLM-enabled applications and AI-assisted development workflows, where applicable. Mandatory Skills Python Development 5+ years of overall software development experience, with strong hands-on Python development. Strong understanding of Python programming, OOP, data structures, exception handling and software design principles. Experience developing enterprise-grade applications, backend services or platform tooling. FastAPI & API Development Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Flask, Django or equivalent Python API frameworks. Strong understanding of REST APIs, API integration and microservices. Familiarity with API authentication and authorization, including OAuth 2.0/JWT. Database Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server. Exposure to NoSQL databases would be beneficial.
