About the role
We are looking for a Backend Developer with strong Data Engineering exposure who has hands-on experience in backend development, distributed data processing, and building scalable applications. The ideal candidate should have strong programming and problem-solving skills, along with practical experience in Java, Scala, or Kotlin and Spark/PySpark.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services.
- Build and optimize data processing pipelines using Apache Spark / PySpark.
- Develop high-quality, production-ready code using Java, Scala, or Kotlin.
- Work on large-scale data processing and distributed computing systems.
- Integrate backend services with data processing workflows and other systems.
- Optimise application and data-processing performance.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with engineering, data, and product teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Follow best practices for coding, testing, code reviews, and system design.
Requirements:
- Strong hands-on programming experience in Java OR Scala OR Kotlin.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark / PySpark.
- Strong coding and problem-solving skills.
- Solid backend development experience.
- Practical exposure to data engineering/data processing.
- Understanding of distributed systems and large-scale data processing.
