About the Project
Sol's ARC is a disability inclusion organisation with over 22 years of experience enabling Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to access education, livelihoods and employment. We work with governments, donors and communities to create systemic, scalable and sustainable change. The Rural Livelihoods Programme (RLP) in Maharashtra is a three-year initiative (October 2026 – March 2029) supported by HSBC India, implemented in partnership with the Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission (UMED-MSRLM). The programme aims to strengthen the economic and social empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in rural Maharashtra — connecting 400 PwDs to identity documents, government schemes, SHGs, livelihood training and market linkages across demonstration districts.
About the RoleThe Field Officer is the closest connection between the Maharashtra RLP and the people it exists to serve. You will work directly with Persons with Disabilities and their families — in their homes, in their communities, in SHG meetings and in government offices — to ensure that no eligible PwD is left behind. You will work 5 days a week — almost entirely in the field. Daily travel between villages will be around 7–10 km. A personal two-wheeler is mandatory. You will be supported by a Block Coordinator above you and a Divyang Mitra peer network alongside you.
What Will You Typically Do?
1. PwD Identification and Household Surveys
- Conduct door-to-door household surveys in your assigned villages to identify Persons with Disabilities and understand their needs, family context and livelihood potential.
- Complete deep-profile data entry for each identified PwD in the PMIS — ensuring accuracy and completeness of all fields.
- Follow up on identified PwDs regularly — tracking their progress and updating records bi-monthly.
- Support PwDs to obtain identity documents — Aadhaar, disability certificates and UDID cards — through visits to government offices and disability access camps.
- Facilitate enrolment in eligible government schemes — disability pension, Ayushman Bharat, ADIP (assistive devices), MGNREGA and others.
- Organise and support disability access camps in coordination with the Block Coordinator and relevant government departments.
- Identify and support Divyang Mitras in your area to assist peers with documentation and scheme access.
- Facilitate the inclusion of PwDs in existing SHGs or support formation of new PwD-inclusive SHGs.
- Attend and facilitate monthly SHG meetings — maintaining attendance registers, minutes and financial records.
- Build trust with gram panchayat members, community leaders and families — explain the programme and address concerns.
- Support PwDs in identifying suitable farm or non-farm livelihoods based on their disability type, household context and local market.
- Assist PwDs in accessing seed funding (₹4,000 per PwD) and initiating their chosen livelihood activity.
- Provide regular hand-holding support to PwDs who have started livelihoods — helping them solve problems, access inputs and connect to markets.
- Ensure that at least 70% of livelihood products produced by PwDs are sold within two months.
- Enter all field activity data into the PMIS mobile app on a weekly basis — PwD visits, SHG meetings, scheme enrolments, livelihood progress.
- Share weekly updates with the Block Coordinator — activity plans, challenges and progress.
- Capture success stories, photographs (with consent) and community feedback from the field.
