About the role

We are looking for a passionate and innovative software engineer to join Walmart's Global Technology Platform group. We build and design systems handling millions of requests per second, play a critical role in scaling Walmart systems under the extremely high-traffic situations, and provide tools to accelerate, secure, and distribute traffic to all the right places.

In this role, you will get to design and build high-performance, next-gen config distributed systems at massive scale. Working with teams across E-Commerce, Stores, and everything in between to make Walmart technology the fastest and most resilient in the industry. This critical role will be responsible for leading and participating in medium to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects. Capable of taking complex problem domains, dissecting them until they're well understood and delivering excellently engineered solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and participate in medium to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects, from discovery to production.
  • Develop innovation strategies, processes, and best practices.
  • Collaborate within the open-source community to develop and implement cutting-edge technologies in the Linux kernel.
  • Evangelise new products and features to existing and potential internal and external customers.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
  • 6 + years of software development experience in SDN or related technologies.
  • Proficient in the Go (Golang) programming language.
  • Development experience with network drivers or eBPF/XDP.
  • Development or Operational expertise with the Linux kernel.
  • Experience and knowledge with cloud platforms (OpenStack / Public cloud).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity and experience working with large-scale infrastructures, and being able to explain reasons for specific design decisions.
  • Willingness to support code in production and be a point of escalation to resolve issues.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including giving product/code demonstrations.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containers.
  • History and experience contributing to open-source projects are a huge plus.
