Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Grid Engineer with a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. The successful candidate will leverage their deep theoretical knowledge, advanced analytical skills, and research expertise to solve complex challenges in modern power grids. This role involves designing, analyzing, and optimizing grid operations, integrating renewable energy sources, enhancing grid stability, and developing innovative solutions for the evolving energy landscape. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between academic research and practical application, contributing significantly to our R&D efforts and strategic projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct advanced research and development in areas such as grid stability analysis, power system optimization, renewable energy forecasting, microgrid design, and distributed energy resource (DER) integration.
- Develop and implement sophisticated analytical models and algorithms for grid planning, operation, and control, utilizing techniques like machine learning, artificial intelligence, optimization, and stochastic modeling.
- Perform comprehensive simulations and analyses of complex power systems to evaluate performance, identify vulnerabilities, and propose robust solutions.
- Lead or contribute to projects focused on the integration of high penetrations of renewable energy (solar, wind) into the grid, addressing intermittency, stability, and control challenges.
- Design and test advanced control strategies for grid assets, including energy storage systems, inverters, and flexible loads.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and utility partners, to translate research findings into deployable products and solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications, effectively communicating complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in power systems research, energy technologies, and grid modernization trends.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering (with a focus on Power Systems), Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
