About the role
Job Responsibilities
- Translate user stories and designs into small, well-defined development tasks. Discuss acceptance criteria, edge cases and implementation choices with your mentor before building a feature.
- Build responsive interfaces and reusable components with React and Next.js. Integrate APIs and handle loading, empty, success and error states, following accessibility and usability practices.
- Develop and maintain Node.js and NestJS APIs using TypeScript. Implement input validation,
- consistent error handling and authentication or authorization checks using established team patterns.
- Work with database schemas, queries and data access code under review. Help implement reliable data flows between the portal, backend services and cloud platform APIs.
- Write unit and integration tests using tools such as Jest. Work with SDET engineers to reproduce defects, verify fixes and improve coverage of important user journeys.
- Debug issues using browser developer tools, application logs and API clients. Investigate functional or performance problems and explain findings clearly to the team.
- Use Git branches and pull requests, participate in code reviews and apply feedback. Follow the team's CI/CD workflow and support releases with guidance from DevOps and senior developers.
- Maintain setup instructions, API documentation and implementation notes. Share progress in sprint discussions and build familiarity with Python or Go services where project work requires it.
Skills
- Hands-on JavaScript or TypeScript and Node.js, including modules, npm, promises and async/await. Ability to build and debug a small application independently.
- Foundations in HTML, CSS and React, including components, state, forms and responsive layouts. Familiarity with Next.js through coursework or a project.
- Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods and status codes, JSON, input validation and basic authentication. Experience building a backend with NestJS, Express or a comparable framework.
- Basic SQL and relational database concepts, including tables, keys, joins and CRUD operations. Understanding of how frontend and backend code exchange data.
- Programming fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, modular design and debugging. Familiarity with Git and basic automated testing.
- Clear communication, structured problem-solving and willingness to ask questions and act on codereview feedback. Academic or project-level exposure is sufficient.
- A portfolio or repository with a working full-stack application, useful tests and clear setup instructions; practical experience with NestJS or Next.js beyond a tutorial.
- Working knowledge of Python or Go; exposure to Linux, Docker, CI pipelines or cloud compute, storage and networking concepts.
- Exposure to API documentation, database migrations, browser accessibility checks or frontend performance measurement. Relevant coursework and certifications are optional.
Qualifications
- B. Tech degree in Computer Science (CS) or Information Technology (IT).
- 0-1 year experience.
