About the role
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Design and implement scalable microservices and real-time data processing pipelines.
• Lead technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions for industrial IoT applications.
• Contribute to performance tuning, system hardening, and containerization strategies.
• Participate in implementation of industrial protocols (e.g., OPC-UA, MQTT) and tag-based systems.
• Participate in code, design, and test plan reviews.
• Maintain post launch product software, provide resolution to product quality issues.
• Work with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Comfortable working with CI/CD environments
• Work with IEC team locally and global software team members to deliver complete and high-quality software applications to schedule and specification.
• Establishes, maintains detailed and accurate documentation of all work.
• Demonstrate strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Computer Science / Electronics or its equivalent)
8+ years of experience in relevant software industry.
• Proficient in Java (8 or above) with strong backend development experience using Spring Boot and J2EE technologies.
• Hands-on experience with middleware and messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, and ActiveMQ.
• Proficient in Docker for containerized deployments.
• Good to have cloud exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
• Python and JavaScript experience is good to have for scripting, integration, or UI layer extensibility.
• Working knowledge of Hibernate (JPA) and transaction management in distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, design patterns, object-oriented design and algorithms used in programming.
• Strong knowledge of design patterns, object-oriented design principles, and commonly used data structures and algorithms.
• Strong knowledge of Core Java concepts — Collections, Exception Handling, Serialization, Streams, Annotations, Generics, etc.
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs, knowledge of OpenAPI / Swagger.
• Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and thread management in Java.
• Strong understanding of JVM internals, memory management, and performance tuning.
• Good understanding of Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) and modular service design.
• Hands-on experience with Docker-based deployments and container orchestration principles.
• Hands-on experience with JUnit or equivalent test frameworks for automated backend testing.
• Strong grasp of Maven build lifecycles, plugin usage, and custom configurations.
• Ability to work on high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Familiarity with code quality tools like SonarQube, Jacoco, PMD, Checkstyle etc.
• Proficient with relational, NoSQL, and event streaming databases (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Experience working with multi-module Maven projects and managing dependency versions effectively
• Exposure to Time-Series Databases or SCADA historian systems (e.g., InfluxDB, TimescaleDB) is a plus
• Exposure to development environments like GitHub, Version Control, Jira, Git Hub/ SVN, GitLab, Confluence and DevOps etc.
• Experience with SCADA/MES implementations. Ignition SCADA experience is preferable.
• Experience with Linux & Windows platform.
• Proficient in Reusability, parameterization, and workflow designs.
• Experience in following formal software development lifecycle, including working with requirements, creation of functional/design specifications, code reviews, code coverage and engaging in process Improvements.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, and OpenAPI specifications.
• Familiarity with MQTT, OPCUA, or other industrial communication protocols.
• Exposure to monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.) is a plus.
• Familiarity with upstream and downstream biological processes. knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11 is required.
