About the role
Our Culture: The “Real” Deal
We don’t just build software; we build careers through our Employee Value Proposition (EVP):
- Real Growth: Learning is integral to delivery. We provide clear pathways and role-based upskilling and certifications.
- Real Care: energytec elevate (e²): 3 hours of protected in-work learning time each week to enable sustainable high performance, continuous development, and long-term career growth; we value sustainable impact over burnout.
- Real Impact: Turn your learning into a legacy. Work with Practice Champions to strengthen our platform architecture and reduce dependencies.
Senior System Administrator (Infrastructure & DevOps)
About the RoleWe are looking for a Senior System Administrator (Infrastructure & DevOps) to support, design, and implement scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure and DevOps practices. You will drive automation, manage AWS cloud systems and container orchestration, maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, and leverage AI-driven insights for proactive monitoring and operational efficiency.
AI-first engineering atAt (eTEC), we build with an AI-first mindset, operating as a human-led, agent-operated organization where engineers own outcomes and use AI responsibly to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and strengthen platform resilience.
- Apply AI across Operations: Utilize AI-driven tools for predictive alerts, intelligent log analysis, automated incident resolution, auto-scaling predictions, and capacity planning.
- Guardrails & Governance: Maintain non-negotiable guardrails for security, code reviews, and infrastructure compliance while monitoring reliability through SLOs, DORA metrics, and system performance.
- Knowledge Sharing: Actively share knowledge and standardize prompts, playbooks, and reusable automation scripts to multiply overall team effectiveness.
- Infrastructure & Automation: Provision, configure, and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible. Automate routine tasks to elevate system reliability and eliminate manual interventions.
- Cloud & Containerization: Deploy, optimize, and manage core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ECS, EKS) and manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes and Amazon ECS.
- CI/CD & Deployment: Build, maintain, and enhance automated CI/CD pipelines for faster, highly reliable software delivery while embedding testing and security checks into the pipeline (shift-left approach).
- Monitoring & Performance: Monitor system health using APM tools (Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics, New Relic) and integrate AI-driven observability tools for anomaly detection and automated incident resolution.
- Collaboration & Best Practices: Partner with development and QA teams to execute smooth deployments, document operational workflows, and champion DevOps and site-reliability best practices across the organization.
- Kubernetes: Strong knowledge of Kubernetes
- Core Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in Infrastructure, Systems Administration, and DevOps engineering.
- Cloud Architecture: Proven expertise deploying and managing core AWS services including EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, RDS, and IAM.
- Infrastructure as Code & Scripting: Strong practical experience provisioning infrastructure with Terraform, configuration management with Ansible, and writing automation scripts in Python or Shell.
- Container Orchestration: Solid track record deploying, managing, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters and ECS containerized workloads.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Experience building and supporting automated CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar platforms.
- Observability: Hands-on experience configuring APM and monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or equivalent solutions.
- AI in DevOps: Hands-on exposure to leveraging AI/ML tools for predictive scaling, intelligent alerting, anomaly detection, or log analysis.
- DevSecOps & Shift-Left: Practical experience integrating vulnerability scanning and automated security gates into active deployment pipelines.
- Agile Collaboration: Track record of collaborating effectively within Agile teams to consistently ship infrastructure improvements every sprint.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional debugging, root-cause analysis, and troubleshooting capabilities for complex, distributed cloud environments.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate across cross-functional engineering teams.
