About the role
We are looking for an experienced Linux/Unix Desktop Management Engineer to join our engineering team. The role involves managing Linux/Unix environments, troubleshooting complex system issues, automating operational activities, and supporting software configuration and deployment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Linux/Unix Desktop Management and scripting, particularly Perl and Python, along with experience working with PostgreSQL.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain Linux/Unix desktop and system environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex OS, application, and system issues.
- Develop and maintain Perl/Python scripts for automation and operational efficiency.
- Configure, deploy, and maintain software across Linux/Unix environments.
- Support application integration and deployment activities.
- Work with PostgreSQL databases and troubleshoot database-related issues.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive operational tasks.
- Collaborate with multiple engineering and infrastructure teams.
- Lead technical discussions and provide solutions to complex problems.
- Establish and follow system management and deployment best practices.
- Mentor junior team members and support technical knowledge sharing.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on Linux/Unix Desktop Management experience.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong scripting experience with Perl.
- Experience with Python scripting and automation.
- Good knowledge of PostgreSQL.
- Experience with software configuration and deployment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Good to Have:
- Shell scripting / Bash.
- Linux automation and system administration.
- Database troubleshooting.
- Experience with enterprise desktop management.
- Git/version control.
- Agile development methodologies.
- 15 years of full-time education is mandatory.
