About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mainframe Developer with leadership capabilities to join our dynamic team in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will have 7 to 12 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe technologies and a proven track record in leading development teams, delivering complex projects, and working in Agile/Waterfall environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a team of Mainframe developers through the full software development lifecycle
- Design, code, test, and debug mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, etc.
- Interact with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to understand business requirements
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
- Perform code reviews, ensure adherence to best practices and standards
- Participate in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis
- Ensure timely delivery of development tasks and project milestones
- Work in Agile or Waterfall development methodologies as per project needs
- Support modernization efforts and integration with distributed systems
- 7 to 12 years of experience in Mainframe development
- Strong hands-on expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM
- Experience in Mainframe testing tools and Debugging techniques
- Proven experience in leading development teams/projects
- Experience with version control tools (e.g., Endevor, Changeman)
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
- Familiarity with batch and online processing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and client interaction abilities
- Experience in mainframe modernization/migration projects
- Knowledge of DevOps or CI/CD pipelines in mainframe environments
- Exposure to cloud platforms or distributed systems integration
- Banking, Insurance, or Retail domain experience
