About the role
Key Purpose/Objective:
To establish, implement, and monitor robust Safety Governance across the Manufacturing Units, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements, Voltas Corporate Safety policies, Tata Safety Health Management System (TSHMS), and applicable client safety standards.
The role is responsible for strengthening safety culture through continuous improvement, developing safety leadership capability across plants, and acting as a trusted advisor to senior management on safety‑related risks, decisions, and strategic initiatives.
Key Deliverables:
· Safety Governance & Policy Implementation
Establish, implement, and maintain safety governance across Manufacturing plants by ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, Voltas corporate safety policies, Tata Safety Health Management System, applicable safety standards and best practices in Industry.
· Risk Assessment & Hazard Management
Oversee plant‑level risk assessments, hazard identification and risk mitigation plans, review risk registers. Develop action plan to reduce the risk level, analyse, monitor and review corrective actions to minimize safety risks to as low as reasonably practicable, across all locations.
· Regulatory Compliance & Audit Management
Ensure adherence to statutory safety laws and IMS requirements; coordinate internal, external, statutory, and IMS audits and drive timely closure of audit observations and non‑conformities.
· Incident Management & Emergency Preparedness
Lead investigations of safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; conduct root cause analysis, ensure CAPA implementation, and oversee emergency response planning, mock drills, and crisis preparedness exercises.
· Safety Leadership & Capability Development
Supervise, mentor, and develop Plant Safety Officers across all manufacturing plants; strengthen safety leadership capability, behavioral safety programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
· MIS, Advisory & Strategic Support
Monitor safety KPIs, dashboards, and trends; prepare MIS and leadership reports for HO; act as a trusted advisor to senior management on safety risks, regulatory exposure, and strategic safety initiatives & innovations, while supporting Corporate Safety programs and audits.
Essential Attributes:
- Proven capability to lead the overall safety function for a multi‑plant manufacturing setup.
- Strong expertise in safety management systems, risk assessment, audits, and compliance governance.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising and developing safety teams across multiple locations.
- Strong analytical, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence senior leadership and plant management on safety‑critical decisions.
Qualification Criteria
BE/Diploma, B.Sc./ M.Sc., Diploma in Industrial Safety.
