About the role
- Server Installation: Build, manage and configure PostgreSQL cluster and databases.
- Working experience on EDB and Community editions of PostgreSQL.
- Design and monitor the Auto vacuum and Analyze jobs for database optimal performance.
- Tablespace management and address any space issues at host level and tablespace level.
- Deploy SQL scripts provided by application team on prod and non-prod servers.
- Manage and monitor database maintenance jobs, probes setup in PEM console.
- Backup Management: Perform and manage backups of clusters and databases using pg_backrest, pg_dump and db2_dumpall
- Perform database restores using Ansible automation tool and pg_backrest per user requests.
- Upgrades and Patching: Perform database upgrade and patching to keep PostgreSQL out of bugs and at latest level.
- Monitor the autogenerated job mail alerts setup on PEM/custom script and take corrective actions for failures.
- Working with ServiceNow ticketing tool for Change management and ticket management.
- Server Monitoring: Handling CPU, Memory, host level issues caused by PostgreSQL.
- Manage user access and permissions by creating, adding, and removing users/roles.
- Hands-on experience on using different utilities like pg_backrest, pg_ctl, psql, etc
- Automate repetitive tasks such as tools like Ansible, PowerShell, shell, etc.
- Must have working experience on Unix/Linux servers(Should be well versed with Linux commands)
- Ability to take up the challenge and complete the assigned task.
