About the role

Role Overview

·      Arnott is building a new enterprise data lake and requires strong, hands-on Power BI and Data Analytics talent to (1) re-architect and rebuild our existing suite of Power BI dashboards on the new data lake foundation, and (2) design and build new dashboards to support evolving business reporting needs across the organization.

·      This is a highly technical, delivery-focused role. We need people who can work independently, translate business requirements into performant data models and clean visual reporting, and collaborate closely with our data engineering team as the data lake architecture evolves.

Key Responsibilities

·      Rebuild and migrate existing Power BI dashboards from legacy data sources onto the new data lake architecture, ensuring parity (or improvement) in functionality, accuracy, and performance.

·      Design, develop, and deploy new Power BI dashboards and reports based on business stakeholder requirements.

·      Build and optimize data models (star schema / dimensional modelling) within Power BI, including relationships, calculated columns, and measures using DAX.

·      Write and optimize complex DAX measures for KPIs, trend analysis, and business logic.

·      Develop and maintain Power Query (M) transformations for data cleansing, shaping, and integration from multiple sources (data lake, SQL databases, APIs, Excel/flat files).

·      Partner with data engineers to understand the data lake schema, ensure data quality, and flag/resolve data discrepancies.

·      Implement row-level security (RLS), workspace governance, and dataset refresh scheduling in the Power BI Service.

·      Conduct requirement-gathering sessions with business stakeholders; translate ambiguous asks into clear technical specifications.

·      Apply UX/data visualization best practices — clean layouts, appropriate chart types, consistent formatting/branding across dashboards.

·      Perform QA/validation of dashboards against source data before release.

·      Document data models, measures, and dashboard logic for maintainability and knowledge transfer.

·      Provide ongoing support/enhancements post-deployment as business needs evolve.

Required Skills & Experience

·      5+ years of hands-on experience building production Power BI dashboards (not just report viewing/consumption & active development).

·      Strong proficiency in DAX (calculated measures, time intelligence, complex conditional logic).

·      Strong proficiency in Power Query / M language for data transformation.

·      Solid understanding of data modelling concepts (star schema, snowflake schema, fact/dimension tables, normalization vs. denormalization trade-offs).

·      Experience connecting Power BI to modern data lake / Lakehouse architectures (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse) & this is critical given the project.

·      Strong SQL skills and able to write and troubleshoot queries independently, not just consume pre-built views.

·      Experience with Power BI Service administration: workspaces, gateways, scheduled refresh, RLS, deployment pipelines.

·      Understanding of data visualization best practices and dashboard UX design.

·      Ability to work with large, complex datasets and optimize for performance (query folding, aggregations, incremental refresh).

·      Strong communication skills — comfortable working directly with US/global business stakeholders, gathering requirements, and presenting/demoing work.

·      Experience working in an offshore/remote delivery model, with overlap availability for meetings with onshore teams (specify required overlap hours, e.g., a few hours overlap with US Eastern/Central time).

 Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

·      Microsoft certifications: PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst), DP-500, or equivalent.

·      Experience with Azure data services (Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics) or equivalent cloud platform (AWS/GCP data stack).

·      Experience with Python or R for advanced analytics/data prep.

·      Familiarity with Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, or other Power BI optimization tooling.

·      Prior experience in CPG / FMCG / manufacturing / supply chain reporting (Arnott's industry) is a plus.

·      Experience migrating dashboards from legacy BI tools (Tableau, QlikView, Excel-based reporting, SSRS) into Power BI.

·      Familiarity with Agile delivery methodology (sprints, backlog grooming, JIRA/Azure DevOps).

 Engagement Details

·      Location: Remote, India-based

·      Engagement type: Full time (Min 24 months, with possibility of extension)

·      Number of resources: 2 Power BI / Data Analysts.

·      Working hours: standard IST hours with 4 hours overlap with onshore team PST

·      Reporting to: Director of Category Management & Data Analytics

·      Tools/Access provided: Power BI Pro/Premium license, access to data lake environment, VPN/remote access setup by client.
