Profile Summary:
The Projects/Breakbulk - Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the handling of Out of Gauge (OOG) cargo, breakbulk shipments, and project logistics. This role involves coordinating complex logistics operations, ensuring compliance with international shipping regulations, and managing relationships with vendors, carriers, and clients. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in freight forwarding, strong leadership skills, and expertise in project cargo handling.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage and oversee all aspects of OOG cargo, breakbulk shipments, and project logistics.
· Develop and implement strategies for efficient project cargo handling, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
· Coordinate with shipping lines, transporters, and customs authorities for smooth operations.
· Negotiate contracts with vendors and carriers to secure the best rates and services.
· Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and industry best practices.
· Plan and supervise the loading, unloading, and transportation of project cargo.
· Work closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams for project execution.
· Monitor project schedules and resolve any operational challenges.
· Maintain detailed documentation and reports on project shipments.
· Provide regular updates to clients, ensuring transparency and efficiency in project execution.
· Identify process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Requirements:
Qualification:
· Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
· Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in freight forwarding, specifically in OOG cargo handling, project logistics, and breakbulk operations.
Knowledge & Skills:
· Strong understanding of project cargo logistics, breakbulk handling, and heavy-lift shipments.
· Knowledge of customs clearance procedures, port operations, and international shipping regulations.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills for dealing with clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
· Leadership and project management skills to handle large-scale logistics projects.
· Strong problem-solving skills to manage unexpected challenges in project logistics.
Technical Proficiency:
· Hands-on experience with freight forwarding and project management software.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and logistics tracking tools.
· Familiarity with Incoterms, HS codes, and industry safety standards.
