Functional Tester (Level 5/6)

Location: Bangalore/Chennai

Who are we looking for?

Require a Functional tester with Underwriting Life Insurance experience domain knowledge at Bangalore/Chennai location with 8 to 15 years of experience (Level 5/6). Strong Business domain skills are essential. Seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the field of life insurance and annuities.

Functional Skills:

Functional Tester

Primary Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience in Functional Testing, Test strategy and Test plan design knowledge
• Deep domain knowledge of Life Insurance Underwriting (mandatory)
• Solid understanding of Life Insurance products and Annuities, including:
  • New Business & Underwriting workflows
  • Risk classification and rating
  • Policy issuance and endorsements
  • Riders, exclusions, and reinsurance concepts
• Ability to translate business rules into effective test scenarios
• Design and Execute Test Cases: Develop detailed test plans and test cases based on functional specifications to validate software functionality.
• Identify and Report Defects: Conduct thorough testing to identify bugs and inconsistencies, documenting results and tracking defects using tools like JIRA or Selenium.
• Collaborate with Development Teams: Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand application functionality and ensure timely resolution of issues.
• Conduct Regression Testing: Perform regression testing to ensure existing functionalities work as intended after changes and conduct performance testing as needed.
• Participate in Requirement Reviews: Engage in requirement reviews to provide input on functional requirements and product designs, ensuring alignment with user expectations.
• Support UAT cycles, release validation, and defect triage
• Contribute to automation test planning and execution (Preferred)

Secondary Skills: Insurance Underwriting and Annuity domain knowledge

• Analyze life insurance processes and translate them into functional specifications. Act as a liaison between business users and technical teams to ensure alignment. Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, and support solution design. Participate in system testing, UAT support, and user training.
• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., ALM, JIRA, Zephyr)
• Experience supporting or collaborating on hybrid manual + automation testing models
• Knowledge of Agile / Scrum testing methodologies
• Exposure to end-to-end testing, system testing, and UAT
• Understanding of downstream systems such as Policy Administration, Claims, and Billing is a plus
• Agent Compensation: Work with agents to establish compensation structures that incentivize sales and customer satisfaction.
• Application Enhancement Requirements: Define and prioritize requirements for application enhancements to improve the overall user experience.
• Automation: Explore opportunities for automation to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
• Training and Mentoring: Provide training and support to less experienced team members to ensure knowledge sharing and skill development.
• Automation frameworks and reporting tools.
• Writing, executing, monitoring and maintenance of automated test suites.
• CI/CD tools knowledge and Agile process
• Database- MySQL, Oracle
• Problem-solving and analytical skills; Strong programming skills
