About the role

We are hiring an R& D Engineer (2-5 years) to build and deploy autonomy software on real UAV platforms. You will own subsystems end-to-end, from design and simulation through to flight testing in the field.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop autonomy software for UAV platforms covering navigation, guidance, control and mission logic.
  • Work inside ArduPilot / PX4 flight stacks: custom flight modes, parameter tuning, failsafe and geofence logic, and firmware-level modifications.
  • Integrate flight controllers with companion computers over MAVLink / MAVROS, SBUS, CAN, UART, I2C and SPI.
  • Build and optimise perception pipelines: object detection and tracking, camera calibration, gimbal control, and deep learning model deployment on NVIDIA Jetson using TensorRT.
  • Work on state estimation and GPS-denied navigation: EKF tuning, IMU / GPS / RTK sensor fusion, and visual-inertial odometry.
  • Implement path planning and obstacle avoidance using ROS2, LiDAR and depth cameras.
  • Validate in simulation (Gazebo, SITL and HITL) before moving to field trials.
  • Run flight tests, analyse logs, debug failures and iterate on real hardware.
  • Contribute to counter-drone work: detection, tracking and classification of airborne targets.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in robotics, UAVs or autonomous systems.
  • Strong C++ and Python, with solid fundamentals in algorithms and real-time systems.
  • Working knowledge of ROS / ROS2 and embedded Linux.
  • Hands-on experience with ArduPilot, PX4, MAVLink or similar flight stacks.
  • Computer vision experience (OpenCV) and experience deploying deep learning models on edge devices.
  • Familiarity with hardware interfaces and protocols: UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, SBUS.
  • Comfortable with Git, Linux development workflows and debugging on real hardware.
  • Willing to work on-site in Jaipur and spend time in the field during flight trials.

Good to have:

  • NVIDIA Jetson platforms, CUDA or TensorRT optimisation.
  • Yocto / BSP, Linux device drivers, or STM32 / FreeRTOS firmware experience.
  • RTK GPS, RF telemetry links, or mesh networking.
  • Drone swarming, SLAM or sensor fusion background.
