SAP Cloud ERP – Controlling (CO) Consultant (Service-Centric)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of Controlling (CO) / Management Accounting processes in SAP Cloud ERP for professional services, technology, and service-centric customers across different industries and sectors.
• Receive and review the Digital Discovery Assessment (DDA) delivered by the Presales Architect and use it as the baseline for Controlling scope definition and Fit-to-Standard workshop planning in service-centric implementations.
• Participate in and lead Fit-to-Standard workshops for the Controlling / Management Accounting Line of Business, documenting customer requirements, process decisions, and functional gaps specific to service-oriented cost and profitability management in SAP Cloud ALM.
• Design and configure project cost controlling via enterprise project and professional services project structures in SAP Cloud ERP: WBS element configuration, project profiles, project type definitions, cost collection on projects and work packages, and project hierarchy design aligned with the customer’s service delivery and management reporting structure.
• Configure project budget management: budget assignment at WBS element and project level, budget availability control, budget vs. actual monitoring, and budget reporting for project controllers and service delivery management.
• Configure project settlement rules: settlement from projects and WBS elements to Account-Based Profitability Analysis (Margin Analysis), profit centers, or other cost receivers, ensuring accurate cost flow from project execution to profitability reporting.
• Configure Work in Progress (WIP) calculation and management for service-centric projects: WIP determination rules, WIP posting runs, and the period-end WIP close process, in coordination with the FICO and Service OTC consultants.
• Design and configure Overhead Cost Accounting processes using Universal Allocation (UA) in SAP Cloud ERP Public Edition: cost center allocation, overhead cost reposting and distribution in a service-business context, covering shared service costs, non-billable overhead, and practice or division-level cost management.
• Design and configure Account-Based Profitability Analysis (Margin Analysis) for service-centric scenarios: characteristic derivation based on project-relevant attributes (project type, customer, service line, contract type, responsible manager), COGS component splitting from project costs, and profitability reporting configuration aligned with the customer’s service performance and margin visibility requirements; the candidate must fully understand that costing-based CO-PA is not available in SAP Cloud ERP Public Edition and design all profitability solutions within Account-Based CO-PA / Margin Analysis accordingly.
• Apply deep knowledge of the Universal Journal (ACDOCA) architecture to ensure service-centric CO postings — project cost flows, time recording entries, overhead allocations, and Event-Based Revenue Recognition (EBRR) postings — flow correctly and in real time, without requiring FI-CO reconciliation.
• Collaborate closely with the FICO consultant on FI-CO integration for service-centric period-end postings, and with the Service OTC consultant to ensure accurate alignment between EBRR revenue recognition journal entries and CO / Margin Analysis reporting.
• Configure Profit Center Accounting for service line, division, and regional reporting: profit center assignment to project structures, intercompany cost allocation configuration where applicable, and profit center-level P&L reporting.
• Work closely with business users, Finance, Controlling, and Service Delivery Management teams to understand management accounting requirements and translate them into SAP Cloud ERP standard solutions; define resolution approaches for functional gaps through configuration, key-user adaptations, or SAP BTP-based extensions, avoiding custom development.
• Lead functional testing and UAT planning and execution for Controlling processes in coordination with the customer’s controlling and project management teams.
• Support data migration and cutover activities for CO-relevant master data in service-centric implementations, including cost centers, profit centers, project WBS structures, open project cost balances, and budget data from the customer’s legacy system to SAP Cloud ERP.
• Assist in SAP Cloud ERP transformation and migration projects, supporting customers transitioning from any ERP platform to SAP Cloud ERP.
• Coordinate 3rd party vendors/partners project resources, workload distribution, and day-to-day coordination of 3rd party consultant teams throughout the implementation lifecycle where applicable.
• Follow SAP Activate Methodology practices, including Fit-to-Standard, Data Migration, and Testing workstreams, and maintain proper documentation in SAP Cloud ALM throughout all project phases.
• Work closely with presales architects and sales representatives during the presales process, contributing to project estimations and solution scoping.
• Provide post-go-live hypercare support, end-user training, and continuous process improvement recommendations for service-centric Controlling and Management Accounting processes.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

• +5 years of hands-on experience as an SAP Controlling (CO) / Management Accounting consultant with a specific focus on service-centric, professional services, or project-driven business implementations.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in full end-to-end SAP Cloud ERP (formerly SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition) implementations or migrations in service-centric environments, specifically covering the Controlling / Management Accounting Line of Business.
• Deep hands-on configuration experience with project cost controlling in SAP Cloud ERP: enterprise project structures, WBS element configuration, project profiles, project type definitions, and cost collection on projects and work packages for service delivery organizations.
• Proven configuration experience with project budget management: budget assignment at WBS element and project level, budget availability control, and budget vs. actual monitoring and reporting.
• Hands-on experience configuring project settlement rules: settlement from projects and WBS elements to Account-Based Profitability Analysis (Margin Analysis), profit centers, or other cost receivers, ensuring accurate cost flow from service delivery to profitability reporting.
• Experience configuring Work in Progress (WIP) calculation and management for service-centric projects: WIP determination rules, WIP posting runs, and the period-end WIP close process.
• Experience with Overhead Cost Accounting using Universal Allocation (UA) in SAP Cloud ERP Public Edition: overhead cost allocation, reposting, and distribution for service-business cost management contexts; the candidate must understand that Universal Allocation is SAP Cloud ERP Public Edition’s unified allocation framework, replacing classic allocation cycle approaches.
• Hands-on experience designing and configuring Account-Based Profitability Analysis (Margin Analysis) for service-centric scenarios: project-relevant characteristic derivation, COGS component splitting from project costs, and service profitability reporting configuration; the candidate must understand that costing-based CO-PA is not available in SAP Cloud ERP Public Edition and be able to design all profitability solutions entirely within Account-Based CO-PA / Margin Analysis.
• Strong understanding of the Universal Journal (ACDOCA) architecture in SAP S/4HANA and how service-centric CO postings — project cost flows, time recording entries, overhead allocations, and EBRR revenue postings — integrate in real time without reconciliation between FI and CO.
• Working knowledge of the integration between service-centric CO and Event-Based Revenue Recognition (EBRR): how revenue recognition postings from the SD / Professional Services side flow into CO and Margin Analysis reporting.
• Hands-on configuration experience with SAP Central Business Configuration for Controlling / Management Accounting processes.
• Knowledge of SAP Activate Methodology and Fit-to-Standard workshop participation for the Controlling / Management Accounting Line of Business in service-centric implementations.
• Proficiency in SAP Cloud ALM for requirements documentation, open item tracking, and test management.
• Strong understanding of the integration between Service-Centric CO and Financial Accounting (FI), Sales and Distribution / Professional Services (SD/PS), and Procurement (MM) within SAP Cloud ERP.
• Advanced proficiency in English Language (C1 or C2) to maintain business level conversations.
• Excellent workshop facilitation, requirements gathering, and process documentation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Applications: Excel, Word, PPT.
• Remote role with occasional travel if required. Up to 30% travel is expected.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP Certified Associate – Implementation Consultant – SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, Management Accounting (C_S4CCO_2506).
• SAP Certified Associate – Implementation Consultant – SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, Financial Accounting (C_S4CFI_2508) is an additional plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or an IT related field.
• +8 years of experience in ERP software solutions.
• Experience supporting customers in migrations from any ERP platform to SAP Cloud ERP.
• Experience with Profit Center Accounting for multi-divisional or multi-service-line professional services organizations.
• Experience with intercompany cost allocation and intercompany settlement in multi-entity professional services environments.
• Familiarity with SAP Project and Resource Management on SAP BTP and how it integrates with SAP Cloud ERP Controlling for advanced resource cost tracking and project profitability.
• Located in LATAM countries like: Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, or in Central or North America.
• Bilingual: Spanish language is a plus.
• Familiarity with SAP Signavio Process Navigator for management accounting process documentation and scope validation.
