About the role

As an SDE 3 - Flutter Engineer, you will own the architecture, development, performance, and reliability of our mobile application across Android and iOS. This is a hands-on technical leadership role involving production coding, architectural decisions, code reviews, complex problem-solving, and mentoring engineers. You will collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, QA, and Platform teams to build a scalable, reliable mobile experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the application architecture, scalability, modularity, design patterns, and engineering standards.
  • Build complex features, write production-grade Dart/Flutter code, review code, and develop reusable components.
  • Optimise app startup, rendering, memory, network usage, responsiveness, and overall performance across devices.
  • Improve application stability, troubleshoot production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and reduce crashes and failures.
  • Establish standards for state management, networking, security, caching, error handling, and automated testing.
  • Resolve platform-specific issues and manage native integrations, plugins, permissions, notifications, and OS compatibility.
  • Own reliable mobile builds and releases while improving automation, deployment pipelines, versioning, and rollback processes.
  • Implement secure coding practices and protect authentication, sensitive data, local storage, and API communication.
  • Guide mobile engineers through technical decisions, design and code reviews, mentoring, and engineering best practices.
  • Drive refactoring, dependency modernisation, technical-debt reduction, and improvements to engineering productivity.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Backend, QA, Data, and Platform teams to align technical decisions with product goals and delivery timelines.

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of software engineering experience, with significant production mobile development experience.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Flutter and Dart, including application architecture, widget lifecycle, rendering, state management, and asynchronous programming.
  • Experience owning the architecture and technical direction of a production Flutter application.
  • Strong understanding of Android and iOS development, REST APIs, networking, local storage, caching, background processing, notifications, and deep linking.
  • Experience with application performance optimisation, debugging, and production issue resolution.
  • Experience writing unit, widget, and integration tests.
  • Experience with Git, code reviews, CI/CD, and automated mobile builds and releases.
  • Strong software design fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience building and scaling consumer-facing mobile applications.
  • Knowledge of native Android (Kotlin/Java) or iOS (Swift/Objective-C).
  • Experience with payment, authentication, maps, location, analytics, or other third-party SDKs.
  • Familiarity with Firebase, Crashlytics, mobile observability, and performance monitoring.
  • Experience with feature flags, staged rollouts, A/B testing, and automated release tools such as Fastlane or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with modular Flutter applications and reusable component libraries.
  • Experience in automotive, mobility, EV, payments, or consumer technology.
  • Experience working in a high-growth startup environment.

Good to Have:

  • A hands-on engineer who takes end-to-end ownership of mobile technical outcomes.
  • Comfortable making architectural decisions and evaluating engineering trade-offs.
  • Strong at debugging complex issues and improving performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Able to mentor engineers and maintain high engineering standards without requiring formal people-management responsibility.
  • Proactive about technical debt, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
