About the Role
The Data Strategy Lead is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and driving Client's enterprise data strategy. Client's data estate is in active transition — SQL Server as the source of truth, Redshift as the analytical target, Snowflake being decommissioned, and Confluent being evaluated for replacement by RedPanda. Data governance is starting from zero. This role sets the direction for how data is governed, managed, consumed, and monetised across Client's payments platform.
Key Responsibilities
● Define Client's multi-year data strategy aligned to business growth, regulatory requirements, and AI/ML ambitions
● Lead the transition from a fragmented, legacy SQL Server-heavy estate to a governed, Redshift-centred analytical platform
● Own strategic decisions on platform consolidation — Snowflake exit, Confluent-to-RedPanda migration, and long-term warehouse direction
● Establish data governance, data quality, and metadata management frameworks from the ground up
● Partner with Client Client (Data and AI Lead) and engineering leadership to embed data thinking into Client's product roadmap
● Define standards for data ingestion, canonical IDs, and standardised patterns across the Bronze/Silver/Gold architecture
● Drive data monetisation strategy — identify how Client's proprietary transaction data creates commercial opportunity
● Represent data strategy in regulatory and compliance discussions (PCI DSS, FCA)
