About the role
We are looking for an expert in Polymers and Plastics Development to spearhead our sustainable manufacturing initiatives. In this role, you will evaluate, test, and integrate recycled plastics into our Low Voltage Electrical Breakers, ensuring that our products meet stringent safety, thermal, and electrical performance standards while significantly reducing our environmental footprint.
## Key Responsibilities- Evaluate Recycled Resins: Assess and source post-consumer (PCR) and post-industrial (PIR) recycled plastics suitable for high-performance electrical enclosures and internal components.
- Property Optimization: Formulate and compound polymer blends to maintain critical material characteristics, including electrical insulation, thermal stability, and mechanical impact resistance.
- Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Ensure all recycled-content formulations comply with industry standards for low-voltage switchgear (e.g., UL94 flame retardancy, IEC standards, tracking resistance).
- Testing & Validation: Partner with the R&D and quality labs to execute rigorous thermal cycling, dielectric strength, and creep resistance testing.
- Process Engineering: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize injection molding parameters for recycled resin batches, ensuring high yield and structural integrity.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Polymer Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in thermoplastic development, formulation, or material selection, preferably within the electrical, electronics, or automotive industry.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of engineering plastics commonly used in electrical breakers (e.g., PA, PBT, PC blends) and their degradation behaviors when recycled.
- Property Characterization: Strong background in analyzing thermal (DSC/TGA), mechanical (tensile/impact), and electrical properties of polymers.
- Sustainability Focus: Proven track record of implementing circular economy practices or successfully integrating recycled materials into high-reliability products
