About the role
Position Summary
Kaseya is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our SaaS Backup engineering team and help build and operate the next generation of our backup storage platform. Kaseya’s SaaS Backup products protect Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Salesforce data for hundreds of thousands of businesses worldwide. This role will focus on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and operational health of a unified, cloud-agnostic platform designed to operate across trillions of objects and petabytes of data.
The Senior DevOps Engineer will own Kubernetes infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and production reliability. Working closely with software engineering and platform teams, this individual will drive observability, lead incident response, strengthen infrastructure security, and take end-to-end ownership of the systems they build and operate.
Key Responsibilities
- Own Kubernetes cluster operations, including provisioning, multi-tenant isolation, resource governance, and custom controllers.
- Design and maintain end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or ArgoCD.
- Build and maintain production-scale Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, following modular, versioned, and reusable design principles.
- Manage observability platforms using Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog; define SLOs/SLAs and reduce alert noise.
- Lead incident response, including on-call support, triage, runbooks, root cause analysis, and postmortems.
- Enforce infrastructure and pipeline security through Vault, RBAC, image scanning, and audit logging.
- Automate operational tasks using Go, Python, and Shell scripting while improving tooling across Ansible, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
- Manage hybrid networking, including DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPCs, and overlay networks.
Required Qualifications
- 8–12 years of experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), including at least 3 years managing large-scale production infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes cluster operations, custom controllers, and multi-tenant workload isolation.
- Production-scale Infrastructure as Code expertise with Terraform, along with CI/CD pipeline ownership using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or ArgoCD.
- Experience with observability, SLO/SLA definition, incident management, structured on-call practices, and postmortems.
- Strong knowledge of Linux performance tuning, kernel parameters, storage I/O, hybrid networking, infrastructure security, and automation using Go or Python.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with OpenStack components, including Nova, Swift, Neutron, and Cinder, at scale.
- Experience managing multi-cloud environments across AWS, GCP, Azure, and private cloud.
- Experience operating large-scale infrastructure with 5,000+ nodes, including capacity planning and hardware lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of FinOps, cloud cost analysis, resource rightsizing, and storage tiering.
- Experience with Chaos Engineering tools such as Chaos Monkey, Litmus, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with bare-metal provisioning technologies such as PXE, IPMI, Ironic, or MaaS.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery concepts, including RPO/RTO, storage replication, and data protection pipelines.
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or HIPAA.
