About the role

About the Role We are seeking a hands-on Tech Lead with 4+ years of experience to design, build, and operate end-to-end distributed systems. This role is primarily hands-on and requires strong depth across frontend, backend, event-driven architectures, cloud-native microservices, and production monitoring. You will drive technical excellence, own system design decisions, and lead by example while mentoring engineers and collaborating with product, platform, and SRE teams. Key Responsibilities ● Hands-On Development: Design, develop, and review production-grade code across the full stack ● System Architecture: Architect, build, and operate distributed, event-driven microservices using Java/Spring Boot/WebFlux and React. ● Technical Leadership: Drive architectural decisions for scalability, resiliency, and performance. Establish coding standards and engineering best practices. ● Platform Ownership: Own system reliability, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and root cause analysis (RCA). ● Team Mentorship: Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and pair programming. ● Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Product, SRE, Platform, and Data teams to ensure production readiness and alignment with business goals. ● Cloud & DevOps: Design and implement cloud-native solutions on AWS, using Kubernetes and modern CI/CD practices. Core Technical Requirements Core Engineering & Architecture ● Strong experience building scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems. ● Solid understanding of concurrency, non-blocking I/O, and microservices patterns. Frontend ● Experience with modern frontend frameworks (React preferred) ● Strong knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript, HTML, CSS ● Experience building responsive, performant web applications ● Strong grasp of state management, component design, HTML, and CSS. Backend & Distributed Systems ● Strong hands-on experience with Java (11+) ● Experience with Spring Boot and Spring WebFlux ● Solid understanding of microservices and distributed systems ● Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS, or similar) ● Proven experience building and deploying production microservices Data Layer ● Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL) ● Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB or equivalent) ● Caching strategies using Redis or similar systems Cloud, DevOps & Platform ● Strong experience with AWS ● Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker ● CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.) Monitoring & Observability ● Hands-on experience with logging, metrics, and alerting ● Ability to define and track SLIs / SLOs ● Strong production debugging and RCA skills Good to Have ● AI/ML Exposure: Experience integrating AI/ML models into production systems, familiarity with ML pipelines, or practical use of LLMs/GenAI for developer productivity or product features. ● System Characteristics: Experience with high-scale, low-latency systems. ● Leadership: Prior experience in a tech lead or similar leadership role. Qualifications ● 4+ years of professional software development experience ● Prior experience in a senior engineer or tech lead role ● Proven experience designing and running systems in production at scale ● Strong communication skills and ability to articulate technical trade-offs ● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience ● Experience working in agile, fast-paced product development environments.
