About the role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Backend who can take ownership of complex backend systems, drive architectural decisions, and deliver reliable, scalable solutions. You will work on critical services powering AI agents, real-time communications, integrations, analytics, and enterprise workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, data models, and asynchronous workflows.
- Own backend projects end-to-end, from system design to production deployment and monitoring.
- Drive architectural decisions across databases, queues, distributed systems, and event-driven integrations.
- Improve system performance, scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability.
- Establish engineering best practices for code quality, testing, code reviews, and observability.
- Troubleshoot production issues and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical design discussions and engineering standards.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development expertise.
- Proficiency in Python, Node.js, or Go.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, backend architecture, and system design.
- Experience with database design, caching, message queues, retries, idempotency, and failure handling.
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and message queues.
- Strong understanding of production reliability, observability, testing, and code quality.
- Experience owning backend projects from design through production.
- Ability to mentor engineers and work independently with a strong sense of ownership.
Good to Have:
- Experience with real-time systems, WebRTC, LiveKit, telephony, SIP, or streaming infrastructure.
- Experience building SaaS platforms, billing systems, observability tools, or distributed workflows.
- Exposure to production AI/LLM systems, agent orchestration, tool calling, or evaluation pipelines.
- Experience with container orchestration, serverless architectures, or infrastructure as code.
- Experience with high-volume event processing, analytics pipelines, or search infrastructure.
