Job Description
The Cloud Patching Automation Engineer is responsible for designing implementing and maintaining automation solutions that enable reliable efficient and compliant patching and vulnerability remediation across Microsoft Azure Amazon Web Services AWS and Google Cloud Platform GCPThis role focuses on minimizing manual intervention standardizing patch management processes and improving platform security and availability through automation
The position plays a critical role in embedding automation into patch deployment validation rollback and reporting processes while aligning with DevOps Site Reliability Engineering SRE and ITIL principles
Key Responsibilities
Automation Operational Enablement
Design and maintain automation solutions for cloud patching operations
Automate deployment configuration monitoring and postpatch validation tasks
Reduce manual intervention and operational risk through repeatable standardized workflows
Tooling Platform Integration
Integrate automation workflows with ITSM tools eg ServiceNow monitoring logging and security platforms
Work with vulnerability management tools to automate remediation workflows
Ensure alignment with incident change and compliance management processes
Support patch automation across multicloud Azure AWS GCP environments

Operational Reliability Improvement
Embed validation health checks and control mechanisms into patch automation workflows
Monitor patch success rates failures and compliance metrics to improve automation quality
Identify opportunities to increase automation coverage reduce errors and optimize patch cycles
Contribute to enhancing system reliability uptime and security posture through automation
Documentation Knowledge Sharing
Create and maintain automation documentation including workflows runbooks and architecture diagrams
Develop reusable templates and standards for patch automation
Provide knowledge transfer and guidance to Patching operations teams
Promote automation best practices across cloud patching operations teams
Required Skills
Strong experience with automation and configuration tools such as Ansible Puppet Chef or Terraform
Advanced scripting expertise using Python Bash Shell or PowerShell
Experience building reusable automation modules and frameworks for patch management
Handson experience designing and managing CICD pipelines using Jenkins GitLab CI or Azure DevOps
Strong understanding of DevOps principles and automationfirst delivery models
Working knowledge of cloud platforms Azure AWS and GCP
Understanding of patch management vulnerability remediation and system hardening
Experience with cloudnative patching tools and security services
Ability to troubleshoot patch failures and automate remediation processes
DevOps Automationfirst approach and continuous delivery
SRE Reliability scalability and reduction of operational toil
ITIL Governance compliance and structured operational processes
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to identify inefficiencies and optimize patching workflows
