About the role
- Assess and underwrite medical, financial and special risks within delegated authority limits, ensuring timely and consistent underwriting decisions
- Provide technical underwriting expertise and support to clients, internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, offering practical solutions, training and guidance on underwriting matters
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of underwriting standards, guidelines, standards, frameworks and best practices
- Support claims assessment and approval within delegated authority limits
- Monitor market trends, medical advancements, regulatory developments and emerging risks to identify opportunities for innovation and business growth
- Collaborate with actuarial, claims and business development teams on product development, and strategic projects
- Identify client training needs and support the development and delivery of underwriting training programmes
- Coach and mentor junior underwriters, promoting technical excellence and knowledge sharing
- Participate in regional and international initiatives and projects
