11. Purpose of the Role or Function The Sourcing & Estimation Engineer is responsible for the technical cost estimation of manufacturing components and managing the procurement lifecycle from RFQ to final negotiation. The role focuses on ensuring optimum pricing for machining and fabrication items while maintaining high quality and technical standards.
12. Main Tasks and Responsibilities (Functional)
- Estimation: Perform detailed cost estimation for manufacturing items, specifically focusing on Machining, Fabrication, Casting, and Sheet metal based on technical drawings.
- RFQ Management: Manage the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process, including identifying suitable suppliers, sending requirements, and obtaining timely quotes.
- Commercial Comparison: Create detailed comparison statements of various quotes to evaluate the best technical and commercial fit.
- Negotiation: Conduct negotiations to secure competitive rates and optimum pricing as per the project budget.
13. Secondary Tasks and Responsibilities
- Supplier Coordination: Interface with suppliers to clarify technical requirements and manufacturing constraints.
- Process Oversight: Ensure that the sourcing process aligns with project timelines and manufacturing schedules.
- Reporting: Maintain records of estimations, quotes, and final negotiated prices for internal review.

- Education: B.E. (Mechanical)
15. Competency & Knowledge
- Drawing Interpretation: Expert knowledge in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Manufacturing Expertise: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, with specific exposure to Machining and Fabrication components.
- Costing Skills: Proven ability to perform cost estimation based on drawings and negotiate with suppliers for optimum pricing.
- Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in SAP and Advanced Excel.

- Negotiation: Strong commercial acumen and the ability to negotiate effectively with vendors.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data to make informed sourcing decisions.
- Communication: Effective communication skills for internal and external stakeholder management.

18. Special Remarks / Comments
- The candidate must have a minimum of 6 years of experience specifically in manufacturing-related sourcing and estimation.
- Deep familiarity with Machining & Fabrication processes is mandatory.
