Key Responsibilities
Application Analysis and Modernization
Analyze existing IBM BAW services integrations JavaScript components APIs data structures and application dependencies
Translate validated legacy service behavior into maintainable JavaSpring Boot services without losing existing business logic
Develop reusable REST APIs and microservices for selected business and integration services externalized from IBM BAW
Integrate modernized Java services back into existing IBM BAW workflows and support functionalequivalence validation
Participate in serviceboundary definition APIcontract reviews technical design and modernization planning
AIAssisted Engineering
Design and develop Claude Code Skills and specialized AI agents for enterprise software analysis
Develop Python utilities for artifact extraction dependency mapping code analysis documentation and engineering automation
Build multistep and recursive agent workflows using LangGraph DSPy LangChain or comparable frameworks
Implement tool calling structured outputs context management and validation controls for AIassisted engineering workflows
Ensure AIgenerated analysis and code are repeatable testable traceable auditable and subject to human review
Engineering Quality and Delivery
Create unit component API integration and regression tests
Participate in peer reviews architecture reviews defect resolution performance improvement and productionreadiness activities
Maintain source code and build assets using Git Maven or Gradle and approved CICD pipelines
Produce technical designs API specifications support documentation and implementation evidence
Collaborate with BAW developers QE engineers architects business analysts DevOps teams and client stakeholders
Required Qualifications
Core Engineering
5 years of professional software engineering experience
Strong handson Java development experience including objectoriented design and common enterprise design patterns
Strong experience with Spring Boot REST APIs microservices exception handling logging and configuration management
Working knowledge of IBM BAW or IBM BPM applications and workflow integration concepts
Strong Python development and automation skills
AI and Architecture
Experience with LLMs Generative AI or agent engineering
Exposure to Claude OpenAI LangGraph DSPy LangChain or comparable technologies
Understanding of software architecture APIs databases messaging security and distributed systems
Experience with application discovery static or dynamic code analysis reverse engineering or modernization
Engineering Practices
Experience with automated testing and regression frameworks
Strong Git build automation CICD debugging and troubleshooting skills
Ability to communicate technical decisions and work effectively in a distributed delivery model
