About the role
The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:
Product and Platform Development:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services powering JustCall.
- Deliver high-quality software for customer-facing and internal platform initiatives.
- Drive end-to-end ownership from design through deployment and production support.
- Build resilient, observable, and highly available distributed systems.
Technical Leadership:
- Lead architecture discussions for medium to large-scale engineering initiatives.
- Break down complex technical problems into executable implementation plans.
- Improve engineering standards, code quality, and system reliability.
- Drive engineering best practices around testing, monitoring, CI/CD, and security.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineering teams.
- Participate in technical planning and roadmap discussions.
- Mentor senior engineers and conduct design and code reviews.
- Improve developer productivity through reusable frameworks and tooling.
Performance and Reliability:
- Improve system scalability and reduce latency across core services.
- Optimise databases, APIs, caching layers, and asynchronous processing.
- Ensure production stability through monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong backend engineering experience with scalable production systems.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems.
- Experience designing REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
- Strong knowledge of databases, caching, queues, and messaging systems.
- Experience working with cloud platforms.
- Strong debugging and production troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Candidates may have experience in one or more of the following: AI and Voice Platforms, Streaming APIs, LLM integrations, ASR/TTS systems, Voice agent orchestration, AI evaluation pipelines, Platform Engineering, API platforms, CRM integrations, Webhooks, Event-driven architecture, SDK development, Backend Systems, Distributed systems, PHP, Node.js, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Queue-based architectures.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with AI products or LLM applications.
- Real-time communication systems (Voice, Video, RTC).
- Open-source contributions.
- SaaS product experience.
