Job Description: Technical Business Analyst (IT Controls, Cloud, and Security)

Role Overview and Core Responsibilities

We are seeking a dynamic and technically astute Technical Business Analyst with deep expertise in gap analysis, IT controls, and cloud technologies to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for an analytical thinker ready to bridge the worlds of technology and business—delivering secure, scalable, and innovative solutions. As a Technical Business Analyst, you will be responsible for leading audit/discovery projects, driving the technical development of our cloud-based hosting solutions, and collaborating closely with business units to understand their needs and deliver value.

An audit background is no longer essential for this position, though it would be considered a strong asset. We welcome candidates from engineering, cloud, or security backgrounds who possess strong documentation, analysis, and stakeholder management skills.

• Lead discovery Initiatives: Drive end-to-end discovery projects by conducting comprehensive gap analyses of current IT controls, policies, and processes. Document findings and provide clear, actionable reports to stakeholders.
• Technical Solution Design: Collaborate with engineering and business teams to craft innovative technical solutions to complex problems, aligning with organizational objectives and best practices in IT security and cloud architecture.
• Cloud Service Architecture and Optimization: Architect, build, and continuously optimize our cloud-based hosting services. Increase the adoption of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and policy-as-code (PaC) methodologies to enhance automation, consistency, and security.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with various business units (such as Retail, Health & Life Sciences, and others) to understand both business and client needs. Identify opportunities to leverage hosting solutions that drive digital transformation and efficiency.
• Internal PaaS Advisory: Advise and support internal teams building on our PaaS (Platform as a Service) hosting solution, and work with client teams as they seek digital transformation opportunities using cloud-based solutions.
• Strategic Roadmap Development: Contribute to the creation and ongoing refinement of the strategic technical roadmap for our hosting offerings. Participate in the writing, testing, and delivery of key roadmap initiatives.
• Cloud Environment Management: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to manage and maintain our extensive cloud-based hosting environment. Ensure the environment is robust, secure, and scalable to meet the needs of a large enterprise.
• Automation and Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate and enhance our existing hosting infrastructure to reduce manual workloads and increase the organization’s overall security posture.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of processes, analyses, and findings. Draft clear, insightful reports for a variety of audiences, including technical teams, management, and external stakeholders.
• Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all solutions and processes comply with industry standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements. Support continuous improvement in meeting and exceeding frameworks and certifications, such as SOC, ISO27001, and NIST CFS.

• Experience with Gap Analysis: Proven ability to conduct effective gap analysis of IT controls, policies, and technical environments, identifying risks and recommending actionable improvements.
• Cloud Engineering Experience: Hands-on background in engineering and cloud environments (such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform), with a track record of designing, deploying, or optimizing cloud-based hosting solutions.
• Documentation and Analytical Skills: Strong experience in documentation and analysis, including drafting detailed reports, technical documentation, and executive summaries tailored to diverse audiences.
• IT Security and Risk Understanding: understanding of IT security and risk frameworks, including knowledge of certifications such as SOC, ISO27001, and NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CFS).
• Experience with IT Security Policies: Experience working with IT security policies and standards within large enterprise organizations, ensuring compliance and best practice alignment across the business.
• Communication and Stakeholder Management: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders.
• Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience.

• Audit Background: Prior experience in audit (IT audit, internal audit, or external audit) is a strong plus and will be highly regarded.
• Certifications: Industry certifications in cloud, IT security, or auditing (such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or ISO27001 Lead Implementer) are advantageous.
• Automation and Scripting: Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python) to facilitate infrastructure and policy automation.
• Enterprise-scale Experience: Background working in large enterprise environments with complex infrastructures and regulatory requirements.
• Business Process Improvement: Experience identifying, designing, and implementing process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and security.
• Change Management: Understanding of change management methodologies and experience in guiding organizations through technical and policy transitions.
• Familiarity with PaaS/SaaS/IaaS Models: Knowledge of platform-, software-, and infrastructure-as-a-service offerings and their application in enterprise settings.
