About the role
Cloud engineers are responsible for implementing and maintaining cloud-based solutions fororganizations. Key expectations include:
Design and implement cloud-based solutions using one or more cloud platforms such as AWS,Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code(IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
Collaborate with development teams to ensure that applications are designed for optimaldeployment in the cloud.
Work with operations teams to ensure that cloud-based solutions are monitored and optimizedfor performance and cost.
Implement security best practices to ensure that cloud-based solutions meet regulatory andcompliance requirements.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud-based solutions.
Continuously evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend ways to improve our cloudinfrastructure and operations.
Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support for critical production issues.
In-depth knowledge of one or more cloud platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS),Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARMtemplates, which enable them to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
Understanding of networking concepts and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing,and firewalls.
Understanding of security best practices and be able to implement secure cloud-based solutionsthat meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, which enable them toautomate repetitive tasks and streamline operations.
Programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, which enablethem to deploy and manage containerized applications in the cloud.
Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or ELK, whichenable them to monitor and troubleshoot cloud-based solutions.
Understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including continuous integration andcontinuous deployment (CI/CD)
