About the role

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Part-Time database engineer to support our data management needs. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing databases, ensuring data integrity, and helping with database design and architecture. This position is ideal for someone with strong database management skills who is looking for flexible work hours. Roles & Responsibilities: • Designing and structuring databases for scalability, reliability, and performance. • Monitor, optimize, and maintain databases (SQL/NoSQL) to ensure performance, reliability, and data security. • Frequent review of existing databases and data. Assist in optimizing database architecture and support scalable architecture • Handle data migrations, data import/export tasks, and assist with integrating data across different systems. • Tracking, efficient implementation of backup monitoring & recovery • Review & resolve slow queries, connections logs, etc. • Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts to ensure fast and efficient data retrieval. • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and smooth data operations. • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across various systems and applications. • Work closely with developers and other team members to handle their database needs to ensure seamless data flow and effective data usage. • Create and maintain documentation for database processes, data models, and best practices. • Handle table partitioning, performance tuning and index optimization. Job Requirements • 4+ years of experience in database management (SQL/NoSQL). • Proficiency in SQL and experience with database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar. • Strong knowledge of database design, normalization, and performance optimization. • Familiarity with cloud-based database services (AWS RDS/Arora, etc.) is a plus. • Experience with data backup, restoration, and disaster recovery strategies. • Experience in scaling databases • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues. • Good understanding of data security and compliance practices. • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) is a plus. • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality & security. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Good communication and interpersonal skills Additional preferred skills • Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing. • Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis. • Experience with data visualization tools or BI platforms. • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
