Java developer - Spring batch

You will join our backend engineering team responsible for high-volume batch processing systems and mission-critical data-driven applications. As a Java Developer specialising in the Spring Batch framework, you will design, develop, optimise and support batch jobs, integrations with relational/NoSQL systems, and automation pipelines. You will work closely with product owners, architects, data engineers, operations, and DevOps teams to ensure performance, scalability and resiliency of our workloads.

• Design, develop and maintain batch-processing applications using Java (Java 8+/11/17) and Spring Boot/Spring Batch frameworks, implementing job-flows, chunk processing, partitioning, error handling and restartability. GeeksforGeeks++2
• Write and optimise SQL/PL-SQL or other database queries for relational (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL stores; ensure efficient data ingestion/processing and writing. +1
• Integrate batch jobs with upstream/downstream systems via REST/SOAP APIs, messaging queues, file systems, cloud storage, etc.
• Participate in architecture/design discussions on partitioning, parallelisation, performance tuning, memory management, and job scheduling. +1
• Develop clean, maintainable code following solid software engineering practices: unit/integration tests, code reviews, automation, version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI). +1
• Provide production-support for batch jobs: monitor job health, diagnose and resolve issues/failures, implement root-cause analysis and corrective actions; support on-call rotation if required.
• Create and maintain documentation: job definitions, source-to-target mappings, error handling flows, runbooks, deployment procedures.
• Mentor junior team members; lead small tasks or modules in your area; collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver solutions on time and within quality standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related discipline (Master’s preferred)
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in Java development with significant exposure to Spring Framework and Spring Boot
• Strong experience with Spring Batch (job flows, steps, chunk/partition processing, restartability, skipping/failure handling) – crucial for this role.
• Good SQL skills and experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and optionally NoSQL systems (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, data structures, multithreading/concurrency, performance tuning and memory management.
• Experience in Linux/Unix environment for development/deployment, shell scripting for automation is a plus.
• Solid exposure to CI/CD processes, version control systems (Git), build tools (Maven/Gradle), unit testing frameworks (JUnit/TestNG) and code review practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills; ability to work independently and in a team under fast-paced delivery.
• Willing to participate in production support/on-call if required.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud native batch processing or containerised micro-services.
• Knowledge of workflow schedulers (e.g., Quartz, Control-M) or orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with large-scale data processing, big volumes (10M+ rows), partitioning strategies, high throughput streaming + batch hybrids.
• Familiarity with Spring Data, JPA/Hibernate, Kafka/message queues, Microservices architecture.
• Domain experience in banking/finance, insurance, e-commerce or data-warehousing is advantageous.
