About the role
Tata Steel Limited, Kalinganagar (TSK) is embarking on a project to set up a Cold Rolling Mill (CRM) Complex at the Kalinganagar plant in Odisha. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Piping Engineer (Construction) to join our team and drive the successful completion of the CRM balance facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the construction and installation of pipes, ensuring adherence to construction schedules, and monitoring progress. Your expertise in project execution, quality management, and compliance with relevant codes will be critical to optimizing cost, time, and safety in line with statutory norms. Responsibilities: Construction Coordination: Coordinate the construction and installation of pipes, ensuring adherence to construction schedules, work plans, and progress updates. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of services and materials at the site. Project Execution: Implement work procedures, site execution plans, and job distributions. Monitor quality and safety standards, ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications. Study drawings in advance for smooth execution and raise any special requirements for timely incorporation. Issue Identification and Escalation: Identify needs and issues arising during project execution and escalate them for timely action. Resolve structural issues and address professional concerns related to the piping work. Drawing Review: Review construction documents and drawings, including piping drawings, PIDs, and ISO drawings. Ensure a comprehensive understanding of the project requirements and specifications. Vendor and Contractor Management: Coordinate with vendor partners for daily site job execution, including material, manpower, and tools & tackles. Manage vendor contracts, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to quality and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards. Progress Tracking and Reporting: Track project progress, monitor key milestones, and report on results. Provide regular updates to the project manager and stakeholders, highlighting any issues or deviations from the plan. Quality Assurance and Documentation: Certify and reconcile scope, measurements, and materials. Maintain pre- and post-checklists, ensure proper documentation, and prepare as-built drawings. Adhere to quality assurance norms for industrial projects. Resource Planning and Safety Compliance: Prepare material look-ahead plans and optimize resource planning and utilization. Ensure optimum productivity while maintaining safety and quality standards set by the organization. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Extensive experience in construction, including structural and equipment erection, pipeline jobs, and project management. Strong ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings, including piping drawings, PIDs, and ISO drawings. Proficiency in fabrication of structural materials, structure and equipment erection, and relevant quality assurance norms. Familiarity with various types of welding methods, piping materials, and specifications. Demonstrated project coordination and execution skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder management. Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to address and resolve issues promptly. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. Knowledge of relevant codes and regulations applicable to industrial projects.
