About the role
We're looking for a Backend Software Development Engineer (SDE 2) who excels at building and operating production systems at scale. You'll work on microservices and data pipelines that handle ~200K queries per second and process petabytes of data daily, with a strong focus on reliability, observability, and operational excellence. This is a fast-paced role where you'll ship code daily, participate in on-call rotations, and balance feature development with scaling existing systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices and data pipelines for high-throughput production workloads.
- Build scalable, reliable systems that handle 200K+ QPS and process petabytes of data.
- Implement comprehensive observability (metrics, logging, tracing) for all services you build.
- Participate in on-call rotation and lead incident response when systems degrade.
- Work in daily sprint cadence; break down work, deliver incrementally, and iterate quickly.
- Involve in optimizing existing systems for performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability.
- Write production-grade code: maintainable, well-tested, and operationally sound.
- Conduct thorough code reviews focusing on code quality, system design, and operational concerns.
- Debug and resolve complex production issues under pressure.
Requirements:
- Experience: 3+ years building and operating backend systems in production environments.
- Education: B. E. / B. Tech. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Programming: Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Java, etc. ) with proven ability to write production-grade code.
- Databases: Hands-on experience operating both SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Observability: Strong understanding of monitoring, alerting, logging, and distributed tracing principles.
- Operations: Experience with incident response, debugging production issues, and participating in on-call rotations.
- Fundamentals: Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and distributed systems concepts.
- Collaboration: Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment with a daily task delivery cadence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- Kubernetes and container orchestration technologies.
- CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code practices.
- Experience with streaming data systems (Kafka, Pub/Sub, Kinesis, etc. ).
- Understanding of SRE principles and reliability engineering.
- Intermediate proficiency in MLOps and RAG pipelines.
