About the role
As a Senior Application Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building next-generation AI-first Electronic Health Record (EHR) capabilities. We are looking for a highly skilled Backend Java Engineer with strong programming and problem-solving abilities to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and frameworks.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in Core Java, backend service development, SQL, REST APIs, and cloud-native technologies. In addition to building production-grade backend services, you will contribute to engineering excellence by developing robust automated tests and enhancing test automation frameworks as part of the software development lifecycle. Experience with AI-assisted development tools is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java backend services and applications.
- Develop scalable REST APIs and backend components following modern software engineering practices.
- Design and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, and database interactions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with a strong focus on quality and reliability.
- Contribute to the evolution of engineering test automation frameworks as part of the development process.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and investigate issues in complex, multithreaded applications.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as ChatGPT, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar to improve engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
- Participate in code reviews, CI/CD practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of professional software development experience in a Java-related tech stack.
- Strong expertise in object-oriented programming principles.
- Solid understanding of SQL, including database development and stored procedures.
- Experience building Java backend services and REST APIs.
- Strong programming, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience writing automated tests.
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting multithreaded applications.
- Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and automated build pipelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative Agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Java service frameworks such as Micronaut or Spring Boot.
- Experience deploying applications on Kubernetes.
- Experience building applications on public cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with frontend technologies such as JavaScript and React.
- Experience with AI-powered development tools such as ChatGPT, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar.
- Experience contributing to engineering productivity initiatives, developer tooling, or test automation frameworks.
