About the role
As a Senior UX Designer, you'll take ownership of complex product problems and turn them into intuitive, scalable experiences across our Android ecosystem.
You'll work at the intersection of consumer behaviour, AI capabilities and product thinking. A significant part of your work will involve designing agentic experiences that go beyond conventional interfaces and chat-based interactions.
The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:
Own Product Experiences:
- Drive end-to-end UX for complex product features, from problem definition and information architecture to interaction design, prototyping and implementation.
- Translate ambiguous requirements into clear user problems, experience principles and scalable solutions.
- Design robust user journeys, including navigation, multi-state interactions, edge cases, onboarding, permissions and recovery flows.
- Take ownership of the quality of experiences that reach millions of users.
Design for an Agentic Future:
- Explore new interaction paradigms beyond conventional screens, feeds and chat interfaces.
- Design experiences where intelligent agents understand context, anticipate intent, make recommendations and help users complete tasks.
- Think through how agents communicate their understanding, explain decisions, request user consent, handle uncertainty and recover from failures.
- Connect different Glance value propositions into meaningful, personalised and continuous user journeys.
Master Native Android Experiences:
- Design for Android as a platform, understanding its interaction patterns, navigation models, system behaviours and technical constraints.
- Apply Material Design principles thoughtfully while exploring opportunities to establish distinctive product experiences.
- Think beyond individual screens and consider how experiences connect across lock screen, apps, widgets and other device surfaces.
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure design intent translates into high-quality shipped experiences.
Design for Global Audiences:
- Help scale product experiences across markets including India, Indonesia, Japan and the US.
- Understand cultural nuances, consumer behaviours, language requirements and regional differences.
- Identify opportunities to balance global product consistency with meaningful local adaptations.
- Build flexible experience frameworks that scale without compromising usability.
Make Design Decisions That Matter:
- Use research, behavioural insights, experimentation and product data to inform design decisions.
- Understand the relationship between user experience and business outcomes such as engagement, retention, activation and conversion.
- Challenge assumptions, identify opportunities and influence product direction through strong design rationale.
- Present concepts, prototypes and recommendations with clarity to senior stakeholders.
Raise the Design Bar:
- Contribute to evolving design systems, interaction patterns and product experience standards.
- Share knowledge, provide thoughtful feedback and mentor designers around you.
- Bring a strong point of view to design reviews, encouraging better thinking rather than simply reviewing deliverables.
Requirements:
- Product Designer at Heart: You have 4+ years of experience designing and shipping consumer digital products. You understand the complete product design process and have independently owned meaningful product experiences.
- Native Android Expertise: You have hands-on experience designing native Android applications. You understand Android patterns, Material Design, navigation, system interactions, accessibility and platform limitations. You know when to follow established conventions and when there's a good reason to challenge them.
- Strong UX Fundamentals: You have a strong understanding of information architecture, interaction design, user journeys, task flows and complex application states. You can simplify complicated systems without compromising functionality.
- Systems Thinker: You look beyond individual features and screens. You understand how different parts of a product connect, how interactions influence behaviour and how experience frameworks can scale across products and markets.
- AI Curious: You are genuinely interested in how AI is changing product experiences. You understand that designing for AI requires more than adding a chatbot. You're curious about context, personalisation, intelligent recommendations, agent behaviour, trust and human control. Prior experience with AI products is valuable, but a strong understanding of the possibilities and challenges is essential.
- Strong Prototyping Skills: You can bring ideas to life through interactive prototypes and communicate complex interactions effectively. You are comfortable exploring different approaches before settling on a solution.
- Business Awareness: You understand that good design must work for both users and the business. You can connect experience decisions to product metrics, articulate trade-offs and make informed decisions with cross-functional teams.
- Communication and Collaboration: You can articulate your thinking, defend design decisions with evidence and influence stakeholders. You work well with product managers, engineers, researchers and fellow designers.
