About the role
Job Purpose The QA Automation Engineer role exists to ensure high-quality delivery of Salesforce and related business applications through effective manual testing, Playwright-based automation, API validation, regression coverage, and structured defect management. The role contributes to reliable releases by building reusable automation scripts, validating business-critical workflows, and supporting faster, more controlled delivery through Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD practices. Duties and Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: • Develop, enhance, and maintain Playwright automation scripts using JavaScript and TypeScript for Salesforce and related application workflows. • Design reusable automation components using page object model, modular scripting practices, and data-driven testing approaches. • Execute UI, API, functional, and regression testing to validate business-critical Salesforce processes and release changes. • Create, update, and maintain test cases, test execution records, and traceability in Azure DevOps Test Plans or JIRA. • Log, track, retest, and validate defects through Azure DevOps Boards or JIRA, ensuring clear documentation and timely closure. • Integrate and maintain automation suites within CI/CD pipelines and support Git-based version control practices. • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA leads, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and support release readiness. Key Decisions / Dimensions • Selection of suitable test scenarios for automation based on regression impact, business criticality, stability, and reusability. • Choice of appropriate Playwright locators, assertions, waits, browser handling methods, and reusable automation design patterns. • Prioritization of test execution, defect retesting, and automation maintenance activities in line with release timelines and QA priorities. • Identification of defects, documentation of observations, and recommendation of severity or impact based on business workflow understanding. • Determination of whether test failures are caused by script issues, environment instability, test data gaps, or actual application defects. • Recommendations for improving automation coverage, reporting, framework maintainability, and CI/CD execution effectiveness.|• Direct Reports/Supervision (if applicable): [1-3 junior test engineers] depending on POD size • Change Requests/Feature Testing & Regression per month: 110 Man-days or 5 Man-months Major Challenges • Maintaining stable and reusable Playwright automation scripts while handling frequent UI changes, dynamic Salesforce components, and evolving business workflows. • Ensuring adequate regression coverage within tight release timelines while balancing manual validation, automation execution, and defect retesting activities. • Debugging framework-level and script-level automation failures, including locator instability, waits, assertions, browser handling, and test data dependencies. • Coordinating with developers, BAs, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, validate expected behavior, and ensure timely closure of defects. • Maintaining accurate test documentation, execution evidence, and defect updates across Azure DevOps Test Plans, Boards, or JIRA. • Supporting CI/CD execution of automation suites while ensuring failures are analysed and reported with clear root cause details. Required Qualifications and Experience a) Qualifications Bachelor’s / master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. Relevant QA automation certification or Salesforce testing exposure will be preferred. b) Work Experience 3 to 4 years of QA and automation testing experience, including minimum 2+ years of hands-on Playwright automation using JavaScript and TypeScript. Salesforce testing experience is preferred. Skills and Knowledge • Strong hands-on experience in Playwright automation using JavaScript and TypeScript. • Good understanding of page object model, reusable automation design, data-driven frameworks, and maintainable scripting practices. • Strong knowledge of Playwright locators, assertions, waits, browser handling, test execution, and debugging techniques. • Experience in UI, API, functional, and regression automation testing for web-based applications. • Exposure to Salesforce testing, including validation of business workflows, user journeys, and integrated processes. • Experience with Azure DevOps Test Plans and Boards or JIRA for test management, defect logging, tracking, and closure. • Hands-on API testing experience using Postman and ability to validate request-response flows, status codes, payloads, and integration behaviour. • Working knowledge of Git, branching practices, code reviews, and maintaining automation scripts in version control. • Experience integrating automation suites with CI/CD pipelines and analysing pipeline execution results. • Exposure to automation reporting integrations such as Allure reports and Playwright reports. • Good understanding of Agile methodology, sprint ceremonies, QA estimation, test execution planning, and release validation. • Strong analytical, debugging, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. c) Skills Keywords Playwright, JavaScript, TypeScript, Salesforce Testing, QA Automation, UI Testing, API Testing, Postman, Regression Automation, Page Object Model, Data-driven Frameworks, Playwright Locators, Assertions, Waits, Browser Handling, Automation Debugging, Azure DevOps Test Plans, Azure DevOps Boards, JIRA, Bug Tracking, Defect Management, Git, CI/CD Pipelines, Allure Reports, Playwright Reports, Agile Methodology, Test Case Design, Test Execution, Defect Validation, Stakeholder Collaboration, Release Testing
