About the role
We are looking for an experienced Backend Software Engineer to design and build scalable, high-performance backend systems that power international payments. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, AWS, and distributed systems. You'll own features end-to-end and work on mission-critical payment infrastructure where reliability and accuracy are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Build and enhance payment processing and settlement systems.
- Develop RESTful APIs and backend services for customer-facing applications.
- Design reliable and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Ensure system scalability, availability, and high performance.
- Work on payment workflows, compliance, and operational tooling.
- Deploy and maintain services on AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering teams, and Leadership.
- Take ownership of features from design through production support.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability.
Requirements:
- 4-5 years of backend development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java or Kotlin.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
- Experience designing Microservices.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs.
- Good understanding of SQL databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
- Experience with AWS (EC2 RDS, S3 IAM, CloudWatch).
- Knowledge of Distributed Systems.
- Understanding of: Idempotency, Distributed Locking, Concurrency, Consistency, Failure Recovery.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in FinTech, Payments, Banking, or Financial Services.
- Docker and Kubernetes.
- Event-driven architecture (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
- Production monitoring and logging tools.
