Technical Architect

Responsibilities:

• Own the end-to-end architecture of FirstClub's technology platform, ensuring it is scalable, secure, resilient, and future-ready.
• Define architectural standards, engineering principles, and technology roadmaps aligned with business growth. Design and review scalable distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures that power our commerce platform.
• Drive key technology decisions across backend services, infrastructure, integrations, and platform capabilities. Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, DevOps, and Business teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical governance across engineering teams.
• Establish engineering best practices around code quality, system design, observability, security, and performance.
• Mentor senior engineers and technical leads while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and security across all systems. Continuously improve platform performance, scalability, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and operational efficiency.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and drive their adoption where they create meaningful business value. Troubleshoot complex production challenges and lead long-term architectural improvements.

Requirements:

• 10-15 years of software engineering experience, with at least 3-5 years in a technical architect, principal engineer, or staff engineer role.
• Strong expertise in designing large-scale, high-availability distributed systems and microservices architectures. Hands-on experience with backend technologies such as Java, Node.js, Go, or Python.
• Deep understanding of system design, APIs, databases (SQL & NoSQL), caching, messaging systems, and event-driven architectures. Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience designing secure, resilient, and highly performant applications at scale. Strong knowledge of architectural patterns, design principles, scalability, reliability, and observability.
• Ability to balance long-term architectural vision with short-term business priorities in a fast-paced startup environment. Excellent stakeholder management, technical leadership, and communication skills.
• Experience mentoring engineering teams and driving technical excellence across organizations. Prior experience in e-commerce, quick commerce, consumer internet, retail tech, or other high-growth technology companies is highly preferred.
